What Are My Spiritual Gifts? (And How Do I Find Them?)

Have you ever had that feeling of something lacking in your life?

Do you ever feel stuck, knowing that you can be doing more than you are?

YEAH....Me too!

That feeling could be coming from the fact that we are not operating in purpose.

Purpose is that thing we are supposed to be doing that brings glory to God and benefits others.

So, you may ask...What does purpose look like?

GOOD QUESTION!

It looks like you are operating in your faith and in your spiritual gifts.

I'm guessing your next question would be "What are my spiritual gifts?"

And before you hit me with that "I DON'T KNOW WHAT MY SPIRITUAL GIFTS ARE," let me share this.

EVERY CHILD OF GOD HAS A SPIRITUAL GIFT!

Let me show you in the word of God.

James 1: 17 states

Every good and perfect gift is from above

You can also see a list of some of the gifts within the church in 1 Corinthians 12: 28-30.

So, let's tackle how you can find your spiritual gifts.

  • Ask God directly. (Matt 7:7)
  • Use online assessments of your spiritual gifts/strengths/personality.
  • Examine yourself. Think about what things come naturally to you.
  • Ask others (People say I am good at ?) (People say I would be a good ?)
I hope that helps you to discover your spiritual gifts and unlock your life.

Here are some last tidbits about spiritual gifts.

Spiritual gifts can have a natural benefit as well. (1 Timothy 4:8)

Spiritual gifts are NOT the same as natural gifts.

Spiritual gifts also help us to produce good works in the world. (James 2: 17)

Spiritual gifts are not limited to just the Church.

Sitting on your gift is selfish and it could rob the world of seeing God.

Love is the greatest spiritual gift. (1 Cor. 13:13)

CONCLUSION

Let's make sure to use our spiritual gifts to glorify God and build His kingdom.

Building His kingdom is not just inviting people to church.

But it is using our spiritual gifts to reflect God into the world.

So, I'm on a journey to examine my spiritual gifts and I hope you are too.

Be blessed and God smile upon you.

The Single Hardest Thing About Being A Christian

It's not easy walking the "narrow path." I fall off from that path more than I'd like to admit.  I don't know if you struggle like me, but the faith walk is full of ups and downs.  I'm going to share what I think is the most difficult thing about being a Christian.  THE MOST DIFFICULT THING ABOUT BEING A CHRISTIAN! WALKING IN FAITH  Walking in faith forces you to trust God.  Faith is the expectation that God is going to move on your behalf, even if you have no evidence.  Let's look at a famous example of Abraham and Sarah.  Abraham and Sarah were well beyond child-bearing years.  But God told them they would have a child.  This was not easy to understand.  Yet, we know that Abraham was called the "Father of Faith."   Abraham's real recourse was to trust God, despite the circumstances.  And even Abraham tried to bring God's will to fruition by using Sarah's maid, Hagar.  We look further in Genesis to see Abraham's fai...

Should You Question God?

Where are you, God?  I don't understand... Did I really hear from you, God?   I am sure you have asked these kinds of questions before. .  Honestly, there are times it seems there are more questions than answers.  This begs a bigger question.. SHOULD I QUESTION GOD?  This, in my opinion is two fold.  There is first the practical questions and then the matters of the heart.  First, we have a greater Word with us.  That word is the Bible.  According to 2 Timothy 3:16-17, the Bible helps answer our questions.  All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. This means that the Bible is going to answer our questions. When it comes to our daily lifestyle, the Bible is our teacher.   We have to fill ourselves with God's...

How Should Christians Pick A Job Or Career?

Sometimes, we can be deceived into thinking that God only cares about our "spiritual" walk.  But I am learning that couldn't be further from the truth.  Let's look at what God says in his word.  Here is 3 John 1:2 (NIV)  Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.  Even though the Apostle John wrote this, I gather that God also cares about our souls, emotions, our daily lives, and all that concerns us.  I would even think that means our careers.  Most of us, especially as adults, spend the majority of our time working or fulfilling some kind of obligation in the role of an entrepreneur.      The truth is that most of us don't like our jobs.  Mainly, this stems from not being able to be ourselves, low pay, and a bad environment.  This is an issue, even for Christians.  But as Christians, we should have a different lens of looking at a c...
